AFC CIRCULAR: Leading the Charge Against PFAS Contamination with Sustainable Textile Innovation
We are closer to toxicity than you think. One of the most common carcinogenic substances is PFAS. Samples collected from rivers and drinking water in developed European countries such as Germany, Italy, UK, and Sweden all show concerning amounts of PFAS-related substances. To address this public health concern, the European Commission published a bill in 2023 to completely prohibit the usage of PFAS by 2025.
As a technical textile innovator in Taiwan, where clean water resources are sacred, AFC does not use non-biodegradable substances such as PFAS in our finishing process. The result? We have completely eliminated PFAS that would otherwise pollute rivers and damage public health. Furthermore, our products can withstand up to 50 wash cycles.
On the other hand, we return bio-friendly industrial water back to the Taiwanese land and let the microbes do their magic. While our primary purpose is protecting Taiwan’s rivers and rice fields, we know our efforts ripple far beyond geographical boundaries.
Our global clients serve and wash gowns and apparel made of AFC’s fabrics with complete peace of mind, knowing that no toxicity will be released into their local water. At AFC, we’re not just making textiles—we’re making waves in sustainable technical textile manufacturing.
